Willem_Haenraets


Willem Haenraets began at age 16 as a student at the City College of Maastricht.
Four years later he won a scholarship from the Belgian Government to the National Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp to study where he had access to a private studio with model.
He completed his studies in the Master Class of Prof.
Sarina (Atelier Opsomer) and Prof.
Waterways.
During this period he held his first exhibition.
Especially the port of Antwerp was much painted.
Through a shipowner he received many commissions in the form of portraits.
After his studies have been completed, he left for Paris.
At Place du Tertre he painted from early morning until late at night and portraits of the proceeds he could buy his first house in Bergen, North Holland, where he lived with his wife Hannah.
During this time he was often at art markets and found buyers for his work.
Dramatic enough crashed Hannah at the age of thirty, leaving William behind with their six-week-old daughter Hester.
After a chaotic period in which to paint little landed he settled back in Heerlen to focus on his work to collapse.

80s


Early 80s he met his second wife Thea and her daughter Susan know.
Together they had a son, Bram.
In the mid 80s he conceived the plan for his paintings limited to printing.
This brought about a great change, both in financial terms and in terms of exhibitions and fairs.
He frequently stayed at the invitation of publishers in the United States enDuitsland and shared signatures from at art fairs in New York, Los Angeles and London.
While the lithographs at the Expo were shown the original paintings hung in a gallery in Beverly Hills.

90s


In the 90s, Willem Haenraets approached by a gallery owner from Maastricht.
Together they experienced several fruitful years every two years with an exhibition at Galerie Renoir.

Today


In 2003 settled Willem Haenraets with his wife Thea in Spain.
His work is currently being sold through various galleries in the Netherlands and Germany.
